Dimitris Kammenos, a politician for the Independent Greeks, has resigned his new position as a deputy minister after just 12 hours. His appointment had been met with utter dismay on Twitter where he was fairly well-known for his outrageous tweets.
Most recently, Kammenos posted a picture on his Facebook page that changed the words “Arbeit macht frei” (Work makes you free) over the gates of the Auschwitz concentration camp to “We’re staying in Europe.”
Luckily, a few people were paying attention and collected screenshots of many of his anti-semitic comments.
Translation: Don’t forget, no Jew went to work this day out of the 2,500 working in WTC.’
There is apparently also evidence of homophobic and racist comments but I have yet to see it. I’m pretty sure it will surface as well.
Kammenos has since deleted his Twitter account and suggested that he had been hacked! Always the first response by people who are caught out.
